1 Billion bottles recycled

New World Record

One Billion Bottles of 100% Recycled Plastic!

At Werner & Mertz, we have achieved a world record: one billion bottles made from 100% post-consumer recycled rPET have now been brought to market. And from now on, all rPET bottles of our Frosch brand will be produced exclusively with recycled plastic sourced from the Yellow Bin.

This milestone proves that it is possible to combine performance, sustainability, and sensory experience without compromising on quality. Frosch products are designed to support an environmentally friendly lifestyle, and each technological advancement in our packaging reflects this philosophy—from recyclable closures and mono-material pouches to the progressive use of recycled materials in every component.

Since launching the Recyclate Initiative in 2012, we have promoted open, collaborative innovation that transforms waste into new resources. Our goal is clear: to produce recyclable packaging made from recycled materials, closing the loop on plastic and reducing environmental impact.

The initiative has led to continuous development of pioneering solutions, such as rHDPE bottles, mono-material pouches, and fully recyclable spray heads made from post-consumer PP.

This achievement doesn’t just mark a technical breakthrough—it is a tangible example of how the circular economy can thrive at scale. And at Werner & Mertz, we continue working to grow that vision, day by day.

The source matters for the climate

As of December, our new Frosch bottles — naturally made of 100% used plastic — can be found on retail shelves. What’s new is that the proportion of material from the Yellow Bag in our bottles has been increased significantly once again from 50% to 75%. It’s a true PET innovation which shows that climate-friendly recycling works.

For us, plastic is a material that still lands all too often in an incinerator or even worse, in the environment. Plastic, however, is a valuable resource that should not be allowed to go up in smoke. In Germany, thanks to the Yellow Bag, we have the best recyling source practically at our front door. Because high-quality mechanical recycling consumes little energy, it also avoids CO2 emissions. That’s good for me and good for the environment.

At Frosch we don’t just live in a circular economy—we also develop it continuously. Together we work for a sustainable future, a future that began long ago at Frosch.

Trigger Range

Our new Spray-Trigger!

Innovation for more recycling.

Our new spray head is a recordholder in Sustainability. Made of a monomaterial (PP), it is the first completely recyclable trigger, with internal functional components of the pump mechanism made for the first time of post-consumer recyclate (29%). In addition, it contains no dyes and its weight has been reduced to the maximum.

100% Effective Circularity:

  • Recyclate: Trigger including rising pipe with 29% recycled material + recyclable
  • Reduce: Less weight compared to common spray-triggers
  • Reuse: at least 11 times refillable
